Mr. Steve Hall
Head of School

Following an international search, the Board of Trustees of Decatur Heritage Christian Academy in Decatur, Alabama, is pleased to announce the unanimous selection of Steve Hall as its next Head of School. For the past six years, Mr. Hall served as Head of School at Westminster Christian School, a K-12 Christian school in Elgin, Illinois. Prior to his service in Elgin, Mr. Hall served for 20 years as Head of Middle School at Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis, Missouri.

A native of St. Louis, Mr. Hall received both his B.A degree in History (with a minor in English and Education) and his M.Ed. degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Covenant College near Chattanooga, Tennessee. He has completed the Global Christian Schools Leadership Summit (San Antonio, TX) and the Van Lunen Fellowship (Grand Rapids, MI).

“I am very honored to be named Decatur Heritage Christian Academy’s next Head of School. It was clear to me from the outset that this is an exceptional school community. It is a warm, supportive and aspirational community. While DHCA can point to its proven track record of exceptional educational success and the life-changing character development of its students, it is the school’s distinctly Christian approach that unites this community and provides the one-of- a-kind learning experience not found in typical school settings. I believe Decatur Heritage Christian Academy is uniquely and strategically positioned for an amazing future of even  greater impact and influence in North Alabama and it is my privilege to have the opportunity to play a role in that future.”

Blake Temple, Chairman of the Decatur Heritage Board of Trustees, said “Steve is the ideal choice to be the next Head of School for DHCA due to his experiential knowledge, alignment with DHCA’s mission and vision, and spiritual and vocational gifts to lead DHCA in the years ahead. The Board is very thankful to our Lord for bringing Steve to Decatur.”

“The Search Committee was overwhelmed with the response to the opportunity to be the next Head of School at Decatur Heritage,” said Stratton Orr, Search Committee Chairman. “Close to 60 people from across the United States and overseas expressed interest in this position, which was very affirming of the tremendous opportunity for growth that exists at DHCA and in this community. We are thrilled that we were able to attract Steve, a sitting and experienced Head of School, to this position. Furthermore, Steve gained invaluable administrative experience at Westminster in St. Louis, one of the premier Christian schools in the country, where he was mentored by Jim Marsh, one of the foremost names in Christian education in the United States. We are so excited to welcome Steve and Susan to North Alabama and to the Decatur Heritage family.”

Mr. Hall and his wife Susan have 3 sons: Mike (27) and his wife, Kayla, Jeremy (25) and Matthew (24) and his wife Alyssa, all currently living in the St. Louis area.
