About DHCA: Our Leadership
Our headmaster
Our headmaster, Mr. Scott Mayo, began his career in Christian education in 1994 at East Hill Christian School, a K-12, 700 student, ACSI school in Pensacola, Florida. While there, he served as director of development, Bible teacher, middle school dean, and basketball and cross-country coach. He then moved to Trinity Christian Academy in Lexington, Kentucky, in the fall of 1999 to assume the position of Headmaster and Upper School Principal. During his five-year tenure at Trinity Christian, he oversaw the growth of the school from 235 to 380, making it one of the largest ACCS member schools within the classical Christian school movement.

Mr. Mayo graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida. He earned his master’s degree in educational leadership from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. In his final year at Covenant, he was named by the faculty a Norman Harper Scholar. This honor is bestowed on one third-year student who exemplifies the mission of the college relative to scholarly work in the program. He was recently selected as a Van Lunen Fellow, an executive leadership development program administered through the Van Lunen Center, a division of Calvin College.

Mr. Mayo, along with his wife, Donna, and two children, Blakely and Nicholas, is excited about the opportunities for ministry and growth at Decatur Heritage Christian Academy. His additional interests include running, kayaking, hunting, fishing, reading, and Florida Gator athletics.
